  • Hank starts the broadcast by highlighting A Practical Guide to Culture: Helping the Next Generation Navigate Today’s World, by John Stonestreet and Brett Kunkle. Hank recounts events in the life of Sophie Scholl, a young German girl who resisted culture and stood against the Nazis in her day. While at trial, it is reported that she said, “Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don’t dare express themselves as we did.” On February 22, 1943. Sophie, and her brother Hans were convicted of treason, condemned to death, and within hours, executed by guillotine.
