Test Everything

Great to be in the studio taking your questions throughout the United States and Canada! There are so many people who stand with this ministry prayerfully and financially, touching the lives of people, whom they’ll only know from the perspective of eternity. People like Wayne, who wrote me saying:

God has helped me defend my faith by listening to your broadcast. I thank God for your courage and Christian witness in truth.

Or Helen, who writes:

I started listening to the Bible Answer Man Broadcast many years ago now. When I first started listening I often disagreed, but the more I listened, the better I understood. As I listen to your broadcasts, your guests, your callers, the more I respected and understood what you were telling me about our Lord. I still have occasional disagreements, but the more I listen and study, the Bible becomes more clear to me and I start understanding more and more what you’re saying. Bless you. Thank you for the help you’ve given me in my Christian growth. You and your ministry and staff are always in my prayers.

Again, we love the fact that callers are listening, and exercising discernment skills. You must a Christian like the Bereans; test all things, hold fast to that which is good, and the final court of arbitration is the Word of God. That means that you know the Word of God, and when someone like myself that has a national even an international radio platform and broadcast—when even I say something, I expect you to test what I say in light of Scripture, hold fast to that which is good, because it’s not me, it’s God’s infallible repository for redemptive revelation. In other words, the Bible is your rule for faith and practice, so test what is said in light of Scripture.

Learn to say, “Yeah, that’s interesting. Let me go back to the Bible and test it.” And then if it is trustworthy, hold fast to that which is good, because we want to be pleasing in all that we say and do, as we live out our life for His glory, and for the extension of His kingdom.

Clean Up Job of the Present Day Abortion Holocaust

For decades we have been sacrificing our children on the altars of hedonism. Even now the axe of God’s judgment has been laid to the root. 2000 years ago Christ warned, “the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breast that never nursed’” [...]

Using the Literal Principle to Understand the Literature of the Bible

You are called to interpret the Word of God just as you interpret other forms of communication in the most obvious, the most natural sense. As it has been well said, to interpret the Bible literally is to interpret the Bible as literature. Thus, when a biblical author uses a symbol or an allegory, we [...]

Watching the Unrest in Egypt Remembering the Persecution of Christians

Hard to believe but we’ve already had a month and a week pass by us in the year 2011, and we are now glued to our television sets watching turmoil unfold in Egypt. I was arrested by an article in the forum of USA Today. That article by Joseph Bottum, by the way he’s a [...]

Naturalism and Religion Aren’t Friends (Part 2): Kill One to Fix Another

I want to mention this article that I alluded to yesterday “Science and Religion Aren’t Friends,”[1] better titled, “Naturalism and Religion Aren’t Friends.” What this author Jerry Coyne does is he equates naturalism with science, which is a huge faux pa. “Science and faith,” he says, “are fundamentally incompatible.” Why? Because “irrationality and rationality are [...]

Science and Religion Aren’t Friends?

One of my habits every morning is to read through USA Today among some of the other newspapers that I peruse, and this morning I read the Forum in USA Today, and quite frankly did so before I had breakfast. I think that if I was eating breakfast at the time I would have had [...]
