Once the richest economy in South America, Venezuela has with frightening rapidity become chaotic and impoverished. And as Hank claims, this could be our fate as well if someone like U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were to become President of the United States. In the short amount of time since Nicolás Maduro’s replacement of Hugo Chávez as President of Venezuela, the richest economy in South America—through socialist revolution—is now utter chaos. Even basic commodities of life are lacking. How ironic that some U.S. politicians like Senator Bernie Sanders and the aforementioned Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez want socialism for the U.S. As Hank puts it, to be ignorant of the devastating consequences of socialism or for that matter the basic premise of Christian capitalism is a prescription for disaster.
