On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (12/09/19), Hank discusses an article from The Wall Street Journal titled, “Don’t Believe in God? Lie to Your Children” by Erica Komisar. Komisar, a psychoanalyst, writes that declining interest in religion has proven to be disastrous for millions of young people struggling with depression and anxiety. She goes on to reference a study in the American Journal for Epidemiology that showed that children or teens that attend a religious service at least once a week scored higher on psychological well-being measurements and had lower risks of mental illness. But as Hank points out, the Church is not just a place that helps us cope in this world, but the Church is the place in which we can receive the medicine of immortality—a medicine that transforms our being from one glory to another glory. In the second segment of the broadcast, Hank goes over the ninth day of his devotional, The Heart of Christmas: A Devotional for the Season. It’s a day in which we reflect on Immanuel—“God with us.”

Hank also answers the following question:

  • When people say that Hell is a state of separation from God, and the flames are not literal, it leaves me confused. Is there torment in Hell or not?
