This question is beyond doubt the most important one you can ever ask! It is precisely the question asked by the Philippian jailer in Acts 16. Paul and Silas responded saying, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household” (v. 31). After hearing the word of the Lord, the jailer believed and was baptized. The word of the Lord proclaimed by Saint Paul is the very message proclaimed by Saint Peter at Pentecost: “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). Through repentance we renounce our old life of carnality; through baptism we are raised to new life in Christ; and in new life, we have been saved, are being saved, and will be saved.
