On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank welcomes Dr. Paul J. Maurer, president of Montreat College in Montreat, North Carolina to discuss his article in the CHRISTIAN RESEARCH JOURNAL titled, “The Enduring Value of a Christian Liberal Arts Education.” Hank and Dr. Maurer talk about the change that has taken place in higher education from the founding of Harvard in 1636 to the 1960s; the rise of secular humanism, and the age of Nihilism. Since most students make important life decisions during their four years in college, and many are abandoning the faith, it is vital to teach them the meaning of life from a biblical worldview.

Hank also answers the following questions:

  • In the parable of the fig tree in Matthew chapter 24, does the tree mean Israel? Is the phrase “this generation” referring to the end times?
  • When you give answers, are they divinely inspired or based on what you have learned? I’ve noticed that you and Dr. David Jeremiah disagree on many issues and this causes me confusion, so either the Holy Spirit is lying to one of you or one of you is not as close to the Lord as you think.
  • My church issued a statement saying that they won’t perform same-sex unions, but they would welcome homosexuals into the church; how should I respond to this?
  • I teach theology and biology, and I was wondering, what is your opinion on the age of the earth? If the earth is very old and humans have been on this planet for a long time, why did God wait so long to intervene? Why has God made Himself so obscure?
