On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (08/05/21), Hank returns to chapter 10 of the Gospel of Matthew. In verses 29-31, Jesus makes plain not only that every detail of our lives is under God’s sovereign control, but that this God identifies Himself as our Father. A Father in heaven who cares about all the circumstances of our lives. Thus, the question, “Should we ever be afraid?” Of course not. If you believe Jesus here, every fear, all anxiety should vanish. However, there is one exception. We should fear the denial of Christ, as the Lord says in verse 33, “whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.” The fact is that any rational, right-thinking person desires that Jesus will acknowledge them before the Father who is in heaven. And the thought that He would say “I never knew you” must surely be the stuff of mortal terror. Thus, the question, “Are you ashamed of Jesus?” Can any persecution during our brief sojourn on earth make you disown the Lord of glory?
