On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (04/06/21), Hank moves on to chapter 5 of the Gospel of Matthew, where we see Jesus giving what is popularly referred to as the Sermon on the Mount. When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside. Mountains in Scripture are a place of revelation—a place where God reveals himself to his people. God reveals Himself to Moses on Mount Sinai. Not only the law but His name and His plan for humanity. Now in the Sermon on the Mount, God incarnate reveals not only the principles of the kingdom but the people of the kingdom. They are blessed ones in the city of God; beggars in the city of man. Dependent on God; despised by the godless. They are the salt and light of the world—people without whom culture collapses.
