Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, claimed that an angel named Moroni visited him and told him the location of gold plates chronicling the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. It was from these alleged plates that Smith translated the Book of Mormon.
In the eyes of many Latter-day Saints, the story of the gold plates legitimizes their belief that Smith was indeed a prophet sent by God to restore the true Christian faith lost long ago due to a “great apostasy.”

Find out as Hank discusses the deviations of Mormonism with Bill McKeever, founder and president of Mormonism Research Ministry, as well as his article in the Christian Research Journal entitled, Problems with the Gold Plates of the Book of Mormon.
