On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank continues his teaching on the Gospel of Matthew, finishing up the Sermon on the Mount. In this final teaching of one of the most brilliant sermons, Jesus tells his audience, “everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24 NIV), and in verse 26, “everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.” The sensible Christian builds his faith upon the rock—upon Jesus. He looks to the future when the storms of life come, when the rains come, the streams rise, the winds blow—for it is at that time that a house built on a solid foundation will stand, and one built on shifting sands will inevitably fall. A simple way of delineating the sand is all those doctrines that are not consonant with “these words of mine.”
