On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (04/14/21), Hank returns to the Gospel of Matthew, picking back up in chapter 5 verse 17. Here we see Jesus talking about His fulfillment of the Law: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished” (Matthew 5:17-18 NIV). Jesus fulfills the law and the prophets in His own person. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus fulfills every jot and tittle of the law. If we remain in Christ through faith and baptism and if we walk in the power of the Spirit, we will of a certainty not experience condemnation but rather we will experience a life that is life to the full. Christ is the end of the law for all those who place their trust in Him. He is, and always will be, the way of salvation through faith. In the Old Testament, the law prepared people for His coming. And in the New Testament Christ fulfilled the law through His coming.
