On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (09/12/18), Hank brings up Monday’s ushering in of the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah—the Jewish New Year. Rosh Hashanah begins a period of repentance and introspection that will culminate with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, starting September 18th at sundown. While Judaism finds its genesis in Genesis, its modern-day expression is largely a function of the destruction of the temple in AD 70. As such, Judaism now finds expression in Torah study rather than temple sacrifice. Hank gives a quick breakdown on the three main branches of Judaism: Orthodox, Reform, and Conservative. Regardless of the Jewish religious affiliation, it is our duty as Christians to demonstrate the reality of Jesus Christ through the testimony of our love, our life, and our lips. Christ is the ultimate fulfillment of the Feast of Trumpets, which begins with Rosh Hashanah, and culminates with Yom Kippur, for the Lord Jesus fulfilled all the types and shadows of the Old Testament. Followers of Jesus Christ are under no obligation to observe them.

Hank answers the following questions:

  • If we will spend eternity in Heaven with God, what is the point of being resurrected when Christ returns?
  • In Revelation it says a third of the world will be burned up by fire—are the forest fires in California an indication of this?
