Hank Hanegraaff, the host of the Bible Answer Man broadcast, argues that like the presupposition that God has two distinct people for whom He has two distinct plans, the pretext that there are two distinct phases in the second coming of Christ is little more than the product of a fertile imagination. Rather, when Christ appears a second time, the kingdom that was inaugurated at His first appearing will be consummated (in the words of St. Peter) in “a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.”
