Put on the Full Armor of God (Eph. 6:10–20) & Matthew 4 (Bible Study with Hank Hanegraaff)

Hank Hanegraaff, host of the Bible Answer Man broadcast, continues to teach on the temptations of Christ by focusing on the apostle Paul’s “armor of God”: “put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13). Belt of Truth—as your waist is the center of your body, so truth is central to the full armor of God. Without it, the covering that protects you from the devil’s schemes simply crumples to the ground, leaving you naked and vulnerable. Breastplate of righteousness—no matter how correct your worldview, if it is not coupled with righteousness, you inevitably forfeit the moral authority to speak. Gospel of Peace—with your feet fashioned with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, you can stand firm in distress, disease, destruction, and even death. Shield of Faith—as the ancient shield enveloped the body, so faith envelops your entire being. It is the grace “with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one” (Eph. 6:16). Helmet of Salvation—your spiritual head protector. When the denizens of darkness land their most devastating blows, the helmet of salvation will guard your mind and grant you perspective. Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God—Scripture. Armed with the puny sword of reason, you stand impotent before an archfiend who has studied you thoroughly and is intimately acquainted with all your vulnerabilities. Armed with the sword of the Spirit, however, you are a terror to Satan and can stand strong in the face of his fiercest temptations. Prayer in the Spirit—each time you open your eyes in the morning or close them at the end of the day, remember that prayer is firing the winning shot.
