The F-E-A-T That Demonstrates the Fact of Resurrection—Introduction (with Hank Hanegraaff)

Hank Hanegraaff is president of the Christian Research Institute and host of the Bible Answer Man broadcast starts explaining why the Resurrection is the ultimate game-changer. If I face hardships in life “for merely human reasons,” wrote St. Paul in his first letter to the Corinthian Christians, “what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, ‘Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.’” As St. Paul puts it in the same letter, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.” If liberal scholars, adherents of Islam, or devotees of pseudo-Christian cults are correct, the biblical account of resurrection is fiction, fantasy, or fraudulent. No middle ground exists. The resurrection is history or hoax, miracle or myth, fact or fantasy. Without resurrection, Christianity crumbles. In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul provides a four-part argument: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared…” (1 Corinthians 15:3–5). I’ve codified the argument as F-E-A-T: Fatal Torment, Empty Tomb, Appearances, and Transformation.
