Hank Hanegraaff, host of the Bible Answer Man broadcast, shows that modern-day prophecy pundits go wrong in much the same way that skeptics go wrong—interpreting significant portions of the Bible in a woodenly literalistic fashion. But to interpret the Bible literally is to interpret it as literature. Thus, when a biblical writer uses a symbol or an allegory, we do violence to his intentions if we interpret his words in a strictly literal manner.
